NILS Tasmania says ‘No’ to Payday Loans and Debt Merchants 

The problem of short-term, high interest loans to low income earners, issued by providers called ‘payday lenders’, is the subject of Monday night’s 4 Corners program.

10,000 served by Tasmania’s own community lending program 

The No Interest Loans Network of Tasmania (NILS) has provided more than $8.2 Million in loans to low income Tasmanians since it was established in 2002.

NILS recently approved its 10,000th loan– a milestone for the not-for-profit organisation that provides interest-free finance for essential goods and services.
